What Eight Days at UAC Taught Me About Community
Even though I arrived home from the United Astrology Conference (UAC) over a week ago, I'm still integrating the whole experience.
One of the great paradoxes of my life is that I run an online business, but it's very hard for me to be online — screens can zap my energy, and I feel a detachment from humanity and people's humanness when I only know people virtually.
Don't get me wrong, Zoom and all the technology that allows people to connect to each other all over the world is amazing — but there's still a big missing piece … a gap, an emptiness.
What Eight Days In Person With Other Astrologers Gave Me
Spending eight days with people who spoke the same language as me, having conversations with luminaries in the field of astrology, shopping at an extensive astrology bookstore where I could hold the books in my hand — it plugged that hole. (I bought 15 books!)
I took so many selfies with people I met in person for the first time — past students, other professional astrologers who I love and respect, and my dear Luminary Community members. I've looked through those photos and shared them with people since I got back from the conference, and when I do that in person, big-hearted energy comes right back.
My Talk: Dynamic Aspects in Children's Natal Charts
I had the honor and privilege of presenting something I feel so passionate about — my talk was titled Dynamic Aspects in Children's Natal Charts. The room was full!
To my surprise, out of the hundreds of talks that were given, mine was the only one on children's natal charts. How can this be? It's the best parenting hack ever — as I've been saying for many, many years, kids really do come with instruction books — it's called their natal chart.
This showed me that I have a lot more work to do to bring this information to the world. It's why I'm open to select speaking engagements — whether we're on Zoom or I'm on a stage. Explore My Speaking Topics
There were 1,600 people at the conference, ALL of us geeking out on astrology for many days in a row. I was there eight days! That's a lot of astrology talk. We were all in one place, talking about our charts, what we learned, asking really good questions, and sharing information. It's such a good time in the collective, with Pluto in Aquarius and Uranus in Gemini, to be doing these kinds of things.
Why Community Can Change Your Life
Everyone at the conference kept talking about how amazing the energy was there — it was so alive and vital and exciting. "Life-changing" was a word I saw in the Facebook group after the event, where all the conference attendees were talking back and forth.
Yes, community can do that. It can change your life. It can align your life.
Being with all those people made me feel so connected. Astrology, although it's growing in popularity, is still something that people can think isn't real. I always tell those people: just go get a professional astrology reading. You may not understand how astrology works, but you will know that it DOES work after you've had a reading.
Understanding your natal chart, understanding the daily transits, or your personal transits, validates your human experience. They make what feels crazy — normal. You feel seen and aligned with your soul path.
Astrology dropping into my life in 2010 was truly life-changing. You can read my story here.
What keeps me going …
I created an astrology community where we get to geek out on astrology every single day. We work intimately with the moon cycle and all the moving planets in the sky. Everything ultimately goes back to your natal chart. Your natal promise in this lifetime.
And the daily voice texts take what you experienced each day in your life, and they make them make sense. You know how to align with the daily energies, and you can feel the daily energies — we're so much more connected to everything and everyone than we realize. It's been such a gift to me to have my online community. When I leave them the daily voice text every morning, I feel very "on purpose." It's part of my spiritual practice and morning routine to connect with the day's energies and share them with my people.
Saying that being with my astrology people fills me up is an understatement. I feel blessed that I set up my life so I can do this every single day. My North Node in Aquarius feels fulfilled!
And although I adored all the in-person connection, this keeps me going — until that next in-person event. Not sure when that will be, but I'm energetically creating it in my mind and in my heart.
